気仙沼市に来て、「かもめ食堂」が人気店なのだなと思い、予備知識なしに入店。
「かもめラーメン醤油味」（830円）を注文。（後で、店の素性を知って「味玉のせ」を頼めば良かったと後悔）
カウンターに座っていたので調理場を見ていました。店主さんがラーメン完成直前に小さな柄杓で丼に液体を入れています。「ああ、あれが噂のサンマの香油か」と思いました。
スープは鶏も魚介も感じるいいお味。毎日でも食べられそう。
麺は縮れの中細麺で、スープをよく持ち上げます。麺とスープが一体となって、いい感じ。
チャーシューは厚くて噛みごたえがあり、肉食っている感があります。
ラーメンが来るまで見ていたのですが、お店の方の着ているTシャツは2種類あり、一つは「かもめ食堂」と書いてありますが、もう一つは「CHIBAKIYA」他、ローマ字で一杯書いてあります。
スマホで調べて分かりました。
最初の「かもめ食堂」は大震災でなくなってしまったこと。
気仙沼市出身の「ちばき屋」の千葉憲二氏が名前を復活させたこと。
2011年のことを思い出しました。カレンダーを仮設住宅の方に届けるためにこの地を訪れた日。油が流出して火災が起きたために、あちらこちらが黒く焦げていました。
改めて今の光景を見ると胸が熱くなりました。
