戸隠神社中社の前にある戸隠蕎麦の有名店です。戸隠そばとは長野県長野市北西部の戸隠地区で作られるそばで、島根の出雲そば、岩手のわんこそばと並び日本三大蕎麦の一つとされています。
戸隠そばの特徴は「挽きぐるみ」と「ぼっち盛り」。そばの実の甘皮を残したまま挽いた「挽きぐるみ」というそば粉を使用し、「ぼっち盛り」と呼ばれる小分けにまとめた5～6束のそばを竹ざるに並べる独特の盛り方をします。信州伝統野菜である辛味大根を薬味にし、地元で獲れる山菜の天ぷらや漬物を添えるのが戸隠そばの一般的な食べ方とされています。
9時半頃に到着して、店の前で記帳するとすでに3枚目でした。店員さんに何時ごろに呼ばれるか聞いてみると11:30～12:00頃かなと言われたので、戸隠神社中社・宝光社・火之御子社を巡って11:15にうずれ家さんの前に戻ります。11:30に入店。

冷たいお蕎麦の大盛りざるそば2枚分を直径30cmの大ざるに盛った特大ざるそばです。まずは何もつけずにすすります。太めの蕎麦は香り、コシ、口当たり、喉越しがどれも凄い。これまで名店と言われるお店の蕎麦をいろいろ食べてきましたが、そのどれとも違うお蕎麦でした。
お野菜いろいろ天ぷらは、シメジ、ししとう、おくら、スナップエンドウ、カボチャ、サツマイモ、パプリカかな。その季節によって内容が変わるようです。薄めの衣で野菜そのものの甘さが際立っていて美味しい天ぷらでした。天ぷらだけでも食べる価値のあると言われるうずら家さんの天ぷらは流石の美味しさでした。
大満足してお店を後にしました。
