We went back to the hotel, took a bath, and decided to go to the festival at Zenkoji Temple, which was going on at the time. Everyone seemed to be visiting Nagano for this festival, but I had no idea about it until we got there. But it was amazing. Local elementary school students and sponsoring companies had put out lanterns on the approach to the temple, which was very beautiful. And Zenkoji Temple was lit up in various colors, giving it a mysterious feel. It was a shame that I couldn't take good photos, but it was very beautiful. There were retro hotels on the approach to the temple, as well as old-fashioned Ryokan and temple lodgings, so I would like to visit again and take my time. We went just before the lights came on, so there were not many people, which was also good. We returned to the hotel area very satisfied, and although it was late, we all went to Izakaya (Japanese-style bar).
