先日、長崎へ行った際。
お昼を出島近くの「Branch OTTO Dejima」でいただいて、お腹いっぱいになったあと、出島を歩いていたんだけど、出島の敷地内からチラチラと見える「日本のパフェ発祥の店」って書かれた幟が非常に気になっていた。
ということで、出島見学を終えたあと、寄ってみることに。
やってきたのは、出島町にある「パフェ＆レストラン ハワイ」というお店。1960（昭和35）年創業、もともと大村市に店を構えてたんだけど、2016（平成28）年にこの出島町に移ってきたとのこと。
時間がお昼とおやつ時の間だったせいか、それほど混みあってなかったので、同行の小6娘と2人、すぐに席へ案内された。
メニューを見ようとすると、オーナーさんがいろいろとパフェの説明をしてくださった。聞けば、このお店でパフェに使っているジェラートは、まったく水で薄めず果汁100％で作られているということ。さらに、ソフトクリームも、砂糖や乳脂肪に頼らず濃厚な味に仕上げてあるとのことで「罪悪感なく食べれます」との話も。
さらに、「抹茶好きですか？」と問われて「はい」と答えると、抹茶を使ったパフェもあるとのこと。使用している抹茶も、食用に加工したものでなく、飲用と同じものだという話だった。
ということで、抹茶大好きな娘はその裏千家抹茶づくし（1300円・税込）のパフェを注文。ワタシは、さちのかいちごのジェラートを使ったセレブパフェ（1100円・同、写真）を注文することに。
ワタシが注文したセレブパフェ、一番上にはソフトクリーム、そしてそこにチョコアイスがトッピングされている。このチョコアイスもかなり濃厚なもの、ソフトクリームとも相性ばっちり。
ソフトクリームの下には、さちのかいちご100％のジェラート。文字通り、果肉の甘酸っぱさがしっかり生きている。確かにこれは濃いわ～。(^^;
さらに、一番下にはフルーツがいろいろ。上のジェラートによって冷やされていて、これがまたおいしくいただけた。
娘が食べた抹茶づくしの抹茶ジェラートも少しいただいてみた。こちらも本当に濃厚な抹茶の風味。これは抹茶好きにはたまらないねぇ。
今まで食べてきたパフェとはかなり趣向が異なるんだけど、いい意味でワタシの中のパフェの概念をひっくり返してくれた感じだよね。
まさに「本物の味」という感じ、機会があればまた食べに来たい。
