当麻寺駅より徒歩3〜5分の場所にある和菓子屋さん 中将堂本舗。
よもぎ餅をこし餡で包んだ和菓子が有名で、お昼過ぎには売り切れるほど人気のお店。平日の午前中も大行列しており、10分ほど並んでから店内に入ります。
1929年創業の老舗店ということもあって、店内は歴史を感じる雰囲気。正面には駐車場が用意されており、車で訪問する方も多いようです。

◾中将餅
三重県名物の赤福のように、なめらかでしっとりとした食感のこし餡が、これでもかとよもぎ餅の周りを覆っています。
こし餡の濃厚な甘味と、よもぎ餅特有の苦味、もっちりとした食感がバランスよく交わって、何個も食べたくなるような絶品和菓子でした！
