新潟市立鏡淵小学校近くのインドカレー屋さん。
近隣に駐車場が無く、ちょっと離れた新潟市役所白山浦庁舎の有料パーキングに車を停めて、徒歩2分。
暗い通りに黄色の看板が大きく光っている。
店内は、インドの工芸品らしきものや軍事戦闘機のプラモデルなどが陳列されており、異国感のある感じ。
店舗の大きさは全然違うが、漂う匂いはタージ・マハール 富山本店のそれと同じ感じ。
メニューを眺めていると、店主から、「辛いのが苦手でなければ、ブラックカシミールがおすすめです」とのコメントに従い、ブラックカシミールをオーダー。
暫くボケーッと待っていると、ご主人がご飯とカレーをもって登場。
富山本店では、セットメニューのブラックカシミールだったので、スープだけで具は入っていなかったが、今回は単品メニューだけに具として鳥肉とジャガイモが入ってます。
オーダーを受けてから、予め火を通してある鶏モモ肉とジャガイモをカレーソースで軽く煮込んだものと思われ、鶏肉もジャガイモもフレッシュな感じで、素揚げの野菜が入ったスープカレーを連想させる味です。
スープカレー的に、スプーンの上にご飯を載せてから、ご飯をカレーに浸して、一匙づつパクパク。
頭皮からじんわりと汗がにじむような辛さがたまりませんね。口休め的にジャガイモやチキンがうまくマッチしています。
美味しかった。
