2015年5月 山菜そば \700
長岡市とはいっても、旧栃尾市の冬は雪深い栃堀地区。刈谷田ダムのふもとに「ドライブイン刈谷田」はある。近くに民家は無し。栃尾の中心部から車で15分ほどなのだが、まるで秘境のような緑したたる春真っ盛りである。ダムからの川音が、通底音としてあたりを支配している。
川べりに建つ「ドライブイン刈谷田」には、この時期、山菜取りを楽しむ市民が食事を楽しみにやってくる。夏は流しそうめんもやっている。ニジマスと山菜が、春のメニューの楽しみだ。
「山菜そば」を頼んで、辺りの景色を楽しむ。ちょっと人里を離れただけで、こんなにも野趣あふれる景観になるんだなあ。
30分ほども待って、「山菜そば」到着。同行者の「ニジマス塩焼き定食\800」がカッコいい。ニジマスを躍動感たっぷりに焼き上げていて大迫力だ。
「山菜そば」も本格的な山菜トッピング。ぜんまい、ネマガリタケ、ふき、こごめ。大きな丼に、これでもかと載せられている。そばは太めの田舎風、たぶん二八そば。ザクザクした食感だ。つゆは甘めのかえしにシイタケのダシ。これが素朴で旨い。そばより山菜の存在感が強い。ドライバーさえ確保できれば、山菜天ぷらでビールってのもいいなあ。
