長岡にもメキシコ料理があることを聞きつけ、居ても立ってもいられず妻を誘い店に向かった。
ランチは3品の中から選択、また数種のサラダとスープとライスはブッフェ方式、それにドリンクが付いて１０００円を切り、ここのランチメニューはお得感たっぷり。でも今日ここに来たお目当てはチキンモーレを食すこと。私は久しく食べていないモーレソースの味と再会できると信じ胸をときめかせていた。
私の記憶にあるモーレソースは甘くなく濃厚なチョコレートの苦みとコク、それに香辛料の香り・辛みが絶妙なバランスを保っているといった印象である。こちらのモーレも、充分美味しいと感じる高いレベルであった。でも一寸残念だったのは私の記憶にあるモーレとは明らかに違っていたこと。結果、欲求が満たされるどころか益々あの味を所望したい気持ちが強くなってしまった。
