I stopped by Shoji in the Takada area of Joetsu City for lunch. I went back home for Golden Week, and my father picked me up at Joetsu Myoko Station, so I went there for the first time. It's a popular Ramen restaurant in Joetsu that I've been interested in for a while! When I arrived at around 11:40, there was already a line of people waiting in the waiting area. I waited about 15 minutes before going inside. Perhaps because they took my order in the waiting area, Ramen arrived immediately after I entered the restaurant. Since I was with a baby, I was grateful that they guided me to a raised area. I ordered the special ramen/rich (1,100 yen), and my companion ordered char siu (1,050 yen) and warm tsukemen (1,000 yen). I also ordered 6 gyoza (450 yen) from the side menu. I was also interested in the spicy miso, but since it was my first visit, I wanted to slurp down the standard Ramen. The special ramen had a nice presentation of pork slices, bamboo shoots, seasoned egg, seaweed, bean sprouts, green onions, and chili threads scattered throughout. The back fat was used in a nice way, and the soup was rich and well-mixed with the noodles, making it a delicious bowl of ramen. On the other hand, the tsukemen had a seafood-based soup with a strong dried fish flavor. The gyoza was topped with soy sauce, chili oil, vinegar, and plenty of ground garlic. It was Golden Week, so I didn't mind the garlic smell. It was very delicious. When I left the restaurant, the line was even longer, so maybe it would be better to go a little outside of lunchtime.
