昭和にタイムスリップしたかのようなえげつない佇まいは女子供を寄せ付けない風格がある、ここに一人で食事に行けるような女はまさにキャリアウーマンとしてどこに出ても恥ずかしくないはず、もはや国宝級の街道食堂であります。ここと名阪国道の通称どて焼き食堂こと味のおふくを知らないトラックドライバーは偽物だ！
国道二号線バイパスは高速代が出ない弱小運送業者や、高速道路に乗れない巨大貨物運搬車で溢れているが、彼らの癒しのスポットでもある。
どんなデカイクルマで乗り付けても不自由しない巨大な駐車場は、ここでおでんや定食を肴に一杯やって一寝入りするトラック野郎で溢れている。岡山にはトラック協会が運営する立派なトラックステーションもあるのだが、圧倒的に平田食堂の勝ち。２４時間あなたの空腹を満たします。おまけに夜中にトラックのキャビンをノックする怪しいオネーさんまでいる、曰く「おにーさん遊ばない？」
