岡山高島屋の地下一階にある「たこ八」は、道頓堀本店を始め大阪府内に６店、東京、浜松、岡山にそれぞれ１店のチェーン店があります。
コロナ前から何年かぶりの訪問になりますが、12時過ぎだったので7,8人の先客が並んでいました。時間があまり無かったので、店内飲食ではなく持ち帰りを選択しました。ただ、こんぶとカツオでブレンドされた、秘伝のダシ汁に浸けて、明石焼きのように食べることを楽しみにしていたので、その点は残念でした。
持ち帰りは８個入りで税込み596円でしたが、店内飲食より少し安いみたいです。１個当たりの価格は、私にとってやや割高感がありましたが、その分、大きさは普通のたこ焼きよりひと回り大きく、大ぶりのタコが入っていました。出来立ては周りがこんがり、中身はフワフワに見えましたが、ソースを塗られ、持ち帰り容器に入れられて時間が立つと、やはり表面は柔らかくなっていました。
しかし、厳選された粉でブレンドされて作られた生地は非常にクリーミィでとろける感じで、隠し味のさし醤油がいい味を出していました。ソースとマヨネーズのたこ焼きも美味しいですが、やはり、これはダシ汁の明石焼きで食べてみたかったと少し、後悔してしまいました。なお、店内での写真撮影は遠慮してくださいの表示がありました。
