南海・難波駅に直結、各線なんば駅すぐ近く。高島屋大阪店のレストラン街「なんばダイニングメゾン」の7階にある、「うどんすき（登録商標）」で知られる老舗の支店です。
ランチを求めてこの食堂街を徘徊。この美々卯に目がとまりました。阿倍野や堺のお店で何度も「うどんすき」やお蕎麦をいただいているが、「きつねうどん」を未だ食べたことが無いことを思い出したのです。
店内は主にテーブル席からなる80席あまり。個室も用意され、小宴会にも対応されています。テーブルにはIHが仕込まれ、美々卯名物の「うどんすき」に対応されています。
注文はもちろん「きつねうどん」（880円）を。驚くほど早くにおうどんが運ばれてきました。器の中にはきつね揚げ2枚が浮かび刻み葱が盛られています。うどんの横には小さい器とレンゲが添えられています。
先ずはお出汁を啜ってみる…なんといってもお出汁の旨さは流石。昆布と鰹節による実に奥深い味わいが何とも堪りません。五臓六腑に沁みわたる！
饂飩はやや細めで、「うどんすき」の饂飩とは異なります。コシは控えめながら、艶やかでしなやかな歯触り。つるつると食道を通り抜けていきます。これはこれでクオリティの高い饂飩です。
きつね揚げは甘さが控えめで、ふっくらとして実にジューシー。つるつるの饂飩との相性もいいですね。ここにシャキシャキの葱が加わって、テクスチャーの妙を楽しむことができます。
そのままでも充分香り高いおうどんだが、テーブルに置かれている七味唐辛子を少し振り掛けると、格段に香りが高まります。この独特の風味、確証はないが「やまつ辻田」の七味だと思います。
この「美々卯」、これほどの店舗数を持ちながらも安易にセントラルキッチンに頼らず、各お店での調理にこだわる姿勢が味を落とさない秘訣なんでしょう
老舗の気品が漂う高級店だけあって、料理の質だけでなくサービスも上質。にもかかわらず千円足らずでうどんが食べれるというのは実にありがたいですね。
