大阪市中央区道頓堀にある、「まったりプリン」という商品1本で勝負するプリン専門店『元祖プリン屋』。
最初は2003年4月に奈良で軽トラでの移動販売を始め、その後インターネット販売に移行、様々なメディアに取り上げられるようになり、2013年1月に直販店を大阪にオープンしたとのこと。
公式サイトを見ると、これまでにテレビ番組16回、ラジオ番組7回、新聞・雑誌41誌で紹介されたと書いてありました。
店舗はこちらの道頓堀店の他、日本橋オタロード店もあるようです。
今回訪れた道頓堀店は地下鉄御堂筋線「なんば駅」14番出口からすぐ近く、御堂筋沿いの立地。
この日は平日の金曜日、お店には20時半頃に訪問。
営業時間は22時半までと遅くまで開いているのがいいですね。
店内の冷蔵庫は結構スカスカでしたが、まだ残っていて無事買うことが出来ました。
プリンは1種類のみで1個350円(税込)。
一見するとオーソドックスなプリンという感じですが、驚いたのが容器の底にカラメルソースが入っておらず、別添えという訳でもありません。
「まったり」とした味を楽しんでもらうために添加物、カラメル、ゼラチンは使用していないとのこと。
確かに「まったり」という言葉がピッタリという印象を受ける、なめらかな食感とまろやかでコクのある味わい。
特に卵の味わい強めに感じますが、今まで食べた卵濃いめのプリンともまた違った独特の濃厚さ。
個人的にはカラメルが大好きなので、あった方がより好みだったかもしれませんが、カラメル不要というのも納得出来る美味しさのプリンでした！
