I came to a pork Yakiniku (Grilled meat) specialty restaurant in Kayakata-cho, Tosu City, Saga Prefecture. I visited at 12:30 on a weekday. There were no other customers in sight, and no one was sitting at the tables inside the restaurant, but I heard a voice from the back. There might be seating at the back of the restaurant (unconfirmed). The staff seemed to be a couple in their 40s. Looking at the menu, there were six different set meals available. I ordered the ginger pork set meal for 680 yen. I was told I could get a free extra large portion of rice, but I asked for regular. After waiting for 6-7 minutes, my meal was served. A mountain of shredded cabbage was served on my plate, so delicious it brought tears to my eyes, and next to it was ginger pork and onion stir-fried, but the amount seemed disappointingly small. Maybe they overcooked the meat? Some of the meat was burnt, and the onions were fried to my liking. I didn't feel any ginger flavor in the sauce - that's disappointing. Yeah, it was a sweet and spicy sauce, as if they forgot to add ginger. Small dish contained a salad of cabbage, carrots and cucumbers, and the small dish had potato salad - nothing special. I checked the miso soup, and it only had seaweed as an ingredient. There was some green onion on it, but it was incomplete. The rice had a little bit of barley in it, which added some sweetness. They must be using good quality rice. Why is the rice at Yakiniku (Grilled meat) restaurant so high quality? Well, it was a 680 yen lunch, so I can't say anything impossible, but I was unhappy with the sauce for the ginger pork. I would like to be able to enjoy the ginger flavor while eating. The seat I was shown was a sunken kotatsu style, so it was nice to be able to stretch my legs out and eat.
