December 24, 2018 It's here again this year! It's "7/11 Cake Buying Day". "We're not going to do it on a large scale because of manpower issues, so I'll leave it to you," they said, but I've been buying from them for over 20 years, so I can't be rude! Now, what should we have for lunch? If you go a little further along the two-lane prefectural road, there's a soba restaurant that caught my eye. This year? It opened on the first floor of an apartment building on a winding road that leads from the prefectural road to a residential area. The "Juwari Soba" flag is dazzling. We entered the restaurant right after it opened, but there was one customer before us and one after us, so I guess it can't be helped given the location. We ordered the "Seiro Juwari Ver. 790 yen", which I think was the first time we've ever done it together as a couple. My wife usually gets "Tororo", so we weren't paying attention. While waiting for the food to be served, we looked at the lunch menu and saw "Old Soba Restaurant Hasumi". When we asked the staff, they said that the soba restaurant that was a little further away had moved. So, it was soba. I prefer thin and refined noodles, but this was the exact opposite. Moreover, the thickness was not uniform! The broth was plentiful and of normal thickness, but it didn't drain well and quickly became thin. They say it's "new soba", but the aroma was questionable. They seem to be particular about the place of origin... The "refill soba for 280 yen" is a good price. But the soba is the same. The soba soup was thin and didn't taste very good. I was happy when they said "please take some tempura flakes with you" when I was paying (I politely declined), but there are surprisingly many soba restaurants in the area, so do your best! I think it will be a while before I visit again.
