As usual, I went to Kita Urawa this week. Just thinking about which soba restaurant to eat at for lunch makes me happy ♪ Unfortunately, my favorite soba restaurant in Nishi Urawa, ``Teuchi Soba Sokian,'' closed at the end of last month. I made my first visit to "Handmade Soba Shibata" located at the west exit of Urawa Station, which I had been interested in for a long time! We operate on the first floor of a new building along the old Nakasendo road, 5 minutes walk from Urawa Station, across from the Urawa Washington Hotel. When I looked at the lunch menu at the store, my favorite ``Kamo Nanban'' cost 2,050 yen (tax included), and ``Kaki Nanban'' cost 2,480 yen (tax included), which was completely out of my budget. Today's lunch-only recommendation is the "Sugomori Soba" for 1,650 yen (tax included), and today's daily lunch special is the "Beef tendon bowl and soba set" for 1,100 yen (tax included). There was also a mini-don and soba set menu. ``Mori-kake'' starts at 900 yen (tax included), a refill of steamer is 550 yen (tax included), and a large soba bowl is 270 yen (tax included). Considering the volume and budget, I ordered today's daily lunch special, ``Beef tendon bowl and soba set'', and asked for it to be served in a bamboo steamer. It was served about 4 minutes after I ordered. It came with bamboo steamer, beef tendon bowl, pickled vegetables, a small bowl, tsuyu in a sake Small dish, soba choko, and seasonings such as Japanese radish and chopped green onions. Unlike the soba restaurants in Tokyo, I'm glad that the soba noodles in the lunch set are not mini-sized, but rather voluminous♪ The soba noodles have a light brownish tinge, but are whitish and thin, similar to Sarashina. It was neatly trimmed and had a beautiful finish. First of all, when I tried eating it without adding anything, I didn't really notice the aroma or flavor of soba. Although the soba noodles were thin, they had a firm texture and went down easily, and I could feel the sweetness of the soba noodles. While enjoying the fresh and creamy wasabi condiment, I dipped it in a well-balanced soup made with dashi stock and devoured it all at once♪ The beef tendon bowl was served in a small donburi bowl, but there were large chunks of beef tendon on top. Anyway, it was soft and delicious. There was so much rice that I was full. Small dish was a Simmered dish sweet potato and the pickles were low in salt and delicious. When I was eating soba, they served me soba-yu. We poured plenty of soba-yu over the leftover soba soup and enjoyed the finest soba soup♪ By 12:00, the restaurant was fully booked and there was a line forming at the entrance. When I was paying, I asked Mr. Hanaban where the soba was from, and he took time out of his busy schedule to check with the kitchen and tell me that it was from Fukui.
