2023年6月のとある平日の11時過ぎに訪ねた。
川口駅から徒歩7,8分ほどの場所にあるアリオ川口3階にある中華レストラン「餃子の王将 アリオ川口レストラン店」。
広い店内は2割程度が客で埋まっていた。
カウンター席に1人で座り、しばしメニューを眺めてから「極王炒飯」¥770＋「餃子（3ケ）」¥159を注文した。
5分ほど待つと餃子がやって来る。ハーフサイズの3個というのがランチタイムに食べる餃子としてはちょうど良い。
モチモチとした皮に包まれた餃子はジューシーで食べ応えがある。極王炒飯が出てくるまでに食べ終わってしまう。
餃子を食べた後に提供される極王炒飯はスープ付き。鮭、豚バラ、レタスを具材としたちょっとリッチな炒飯。パラパラに仕上がった炒飯は食べやすく、具材と米のバランスは良い感じ。
鮭と豚バラ肉の組み合わせは良い相性。レタスが炒飯としてのまとまりを保っている印象ではあるが、味は単調なので食べ飽きてしまう。まろやかな味わいの中華スープを飲みながらボリューム控えめの極王炒飯を完食する。
餃子の王将にしては、お得感がそれほどなかった炒飯と餃子の組み合わせであった。ガッツリ食べるなら王道の天津飯が良かったかもしれない。
アリオ川口の広々とした店内で食事出来るのは悪くない店舗ではあった。
