I visited Matsuya Kawaguchi Sakaemachi store after 8pm on a certain day in August 2020. It is located about a 3-minute walk from Kawaguchi Station. There was only one other customer in the moderately sized store. I chose the limited-time menu "Pork Kimchi Set Meal" for 730 yen with a large serving of rice from the ticket machine. I could choose between a raw egg or a soft-boiled egg, so I chose the raw egg. I sat alone at the counter and presented my ticket. I waited about 5 minutes for my meal to be served. The meal came with pork kimchi, raw vegetables, rice, miso soup, and a raw egg. I used an egg separator to remove the egg yolk and placed it on top of the pork kimchi. The pork kimchi with garlic sprouts was made with Matsuya-style sliced pork fried in kimchi with a red pepper color. I was a bit bothered by the chemical flavor. The seasoning was not bad as a side dish for rice. It tasted better if you wrapped the raw egg yolk in the pork kimchi. Matsuya's raw vegetables are lightly sprinkled with French cuisine dressing and eaten with pork kimchi. The moderate freshness is pleasant. Along with Matsuya's usual miso soup with dried sardine stock, rice, pork kimchi, and raw vegetables are eaten in a well-balanced manner. I had some expectations for the pork kimchi, but it wasn't very high quality. The price wasn't that cheap, so my satisfaction level is low. I'm looking forward to the next seasonal menu.
