It was after 8pm on a Friday. I had worked hard this week so I decided to go out for dinner, but when I headed to a restaurant I had always wanted to go to near Nishi-Kawaguchi Station, I was disappointed to see that it was closed. I had no choice but to search for a nearby Izakaya (Japanese-style bar). By the way, these days there are almost no restaurants where you can smoke inside, but for some reason there are many Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) around Nishi-Kawaguchi Station where you can smoke. I wonder if it's because of the location? That's not the case around Kawaguchi Station. Anyway, I was attracted by the slogans on the sign of this restaurant, "Tasty Motsu" and "Tasty Fresh Fish," but when I went inside, it was almost full. There was a small raised seat in the back, but they said that there was a small table or counter seat available, so I sat at a table. By the way, it seems that you can smoke at this restaurant too. When I sat down and looked at the menu, I was confused because there were so many dishes on the menu. Since there were only two of us that day, we couldn't eat much, so we decided to choose carefully. First, we ordered a draft beer and the following three dishes.・Three-piece sashimi platter (around 1,500 yen) The sashimi has sharp edges, so you can tell it's fresh. A beautifully presented platter of tuna, yellowtail, and ark shellfish. It's rich in fat, soft, and very delicious. ・Mentaiko potato salad (650 yen) Mentaiko, potatoes, and sliced eggs are served as is, and you can mash them to your liking. I thought I would mash them until they were completely gone, but the texture seemed good, so I mixed them together roughly. ・Fried octopus (650 yen) Freshly fried octopus. It's cut into large pieces, so it's filling. Fried chicken is good, but octopus karaage has a chewier texture, so it's better when you're drinking. Now, I switched from draft beer to green tea highball and Tempura the following next. ・Motsuten (870 yen) This might have been my first time eating motsu tempura. The outside is crispy and the inside is filled with moist motsu, making for a fun texture. It comes with pickled plum, grated daikon radish, and salt, so it's quite good to change the flavor as you eat it. ・Teppan mokomeshi (870 yen) Now, it's time for the final dish. Rice cooked on a hot plate is topped with Korean-style vegetables and raw egg, and when you eat it with gochujang, it's truly Korean. It's a great dish to have as a snack rather than as a final dish. Drink, eat, get drunk, and enjoy the meal. There are a fair number of menu items, and everything is delicious, the price is reasonable, the service is fast, and the service is good, so there's nothing to complain about! That's what I would like to say, but I was still bothered by the smell of cigarettes.
