I'm getting tired of going to Chinese food after my night shift, so I decided to change things up a bit and try Korean Cuisine. This is the area where you walk straight through the arcade from the east exit of Nishi-Kawaguchi Station. It was a little after 2:30pm, and the only customers in front of us were a group of Japanese people who had been having a drinking party since midday. As I was being led through a large box that looked like a bar in Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), and my eyes were drawn to the K-Pop posters and Hangul posted all over the wall, a girl working at the bar had the wit to tell me that today was a special and the lunch menu. He gave me. Apparently it was past lunch time, but the rain had slowed down the number of customers, so I guess they had leftover lunch. . . Kamsahamnida! It was a bit chilly, so I ordered the stone grilled bibimbap + sundubu set. When I tried to take a photo, I was quickly taken down from the menu, so I wondered what else was going on. The grand menu is lined up on the table, and it seems like they have all the casual menus of Korean Cuisine. At first glance, I thought they were Japanese, but the girls with cute smiles were all locals who were fluent in Japanese. The lineup also includes chukmi, sannatchi, and yongnyam chicken, which seem to be popular among girls, and which they are sure to like. But it seems like there's a lot of it, so I guess it's for parties and sharing. The music video on the monitors hanging from the ceiling is linked to the K-pop music echoing throughout the store. It's hard to tell them apart because so many idol groups look so similar, but I feel like I've heard them somewhere. Even though I was told to order using a QR code, there was no smartphone reception and no Wi-Fi. I guess it's because the floor in the back of the room was built one step down. Is it to make it easier to call the store staff? The lunch served on a large tray is full of volume. I'm very satisfied with this for just 1,200 yen. The stone-grilled bibimbap has plenty of charred ingredients, and the taste is average and not bad. But the sundubu was delicious! It's typical of Korea that it contains squidfish and clams, and the tofu has a slightly chawanmushi-like flavor. Sundubu was popular for a while and I went there to eat it, but it was the best I've ever had. Small dish include kimchi, pancakes, and mashed potatoes, which are standard Korean Side Dishes. Since I didn't open the package of Korean seaweed, I decided to take it home and have it as a side dish for breakfast the next day. I thought it was a store in the Shin-Okubo area, but it seems to be a small chain with its main store in Takadanobaba, with restaurant in Omiya nearby. "Masho" seems to mean "drink alcohol" in Hangul, and "masho" means "drink, drink!" It seems like it's going to have a casual nuance. So this is a casual Korean Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) after all. It seems like they are offering all-you-can-drink, and it also says that you can drink during the day. It seems that the deliciousness of lunch at Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) is universal, so I liked the casual style that was friendly to Shimato. I also want to try the famous chicken, so I'll probably find another opportunity to use it.
