Koaji Kushiten This is a Chinese-style Grilled skewer restaurant located in an alleyway where Hidakaya is located, southeast of the east exit of Nishi-Kawaguchi Station. I visited on a weekday afternoon during lunch time. There were two groups of customers in the new restaurant, which seats about 30. There were two Chinese staff members in the restaurant. They don't speak Japanese perfectly, but they are polite and reassuring. The menu is available at lunch time, and includes several fried rice sets for 660 yen, as well as several mapo tofu and knife-cut noodle for 825 yen and up. The main menu includes many Grilled skewer with Chinese spices, as well as many appetizers and main dishes. However, the prices are different from the super cheap Little China, with most dishes costing around 900 yen, so it seems best to order with multiple people. I ordered spicy knife-cut noodle. As expected, the other customers had piles of knife-cut noodle arrived shortly after. The spicy red soup is topped with minced meat and bean sprouts. The noodles are 1.5 cm wide and thickly shaved and curly. The soup was quite spicy. I almost choked if I slurped it roughly. The numbing effect of the Japanese pepper was not too strong, and the soup was quite tasty. The noodles were chewy and had a strong wheat flavor, and were voluminous, and went well with the soup. I hadn't had the urge to eat something spicy in a while, so I was very satisfied.
