Notice of business resumption
A 3-minute walk from Wako-shi Station, this is the 16th year of Teppan-yaki Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) stylish drinks and food! |
I visited a restaurant that I learned about from a review by Tabelog reviewer "Jirji". It's located on the south side of Wako City Station, one street closer to where the Wako Post Office is, and on half the second floor of a building. They're both run by the same company, but the bar is on the right and Teppan-yaki restaurant is on the left. The bar has been open for about two years, but Teppan-yaki restaurant opened in October 2008, so at the time of my visit (January 2009), it had only been open for about three months. It has a dark interior that seems to appeal to young people. I heard that Shiki's [a:rstlst, crossed legs] is made by the same company. (I have never been to Shiki's Koza, so I would like to visit there someday if I have the chance.) There are table seats and counter seats, and I sat at the counter seat in the back. First, some draft beer. It was Ebisu's special selection, but it was a glass instead of a medium mug. I would have been happy with Suntory Malts or Kirin Ichiban Shibori instead of Ebisu for the same price. The dishes we ordered were as follows. ``Asparagus and Mushroom Warm Salad with Garlic Flavor'' is quite filling, and both the mushrooms and the salad dressing are good. ``Homemade Salted Squid'' It's great to make your own salted fish. ``Handmade juicy minced meat cutlet'' As the name suggests, it was juicy and delicious. ``Healthy vegetable steamer steamer'' There was a large steamer basket in the kitchen. Put it in it and steam it. Steamed baskets are also provided. When you open the lid, it's packed full of colorful vegetables. There was plenty of food for two people. It was a bit too steamy, but I enjoyed it with my favorite ponzu sauce, salt, and olive oil. ``King Pork Steak'' A large piece of meat. Served with grain mustard. The taste of the meat was also good. ``3-Year-Old Rice Bran Pickles'' About 3 types of pickles. It's good for a short break from chopsticks. But the customers seemed to be mostly young people, so I wonder if they come here often? ``Stir-fried bean sprouts with the scent of beef tallow'' Stir-fried bean sprouts unique to Teppan-yaki restaurants. It had a large piece of bacon in it and was delicious. ``Mushroom Garlic Fried Rice'' This is also fried rice that is grilled on a griddle. There was plenty of rice, which was good, but I personally prefer that the rice be stirred in to bring out the garlic flavor a little more, and then grilled until the rice grains start to crackle. Okonomiyaki is also on the menu, so I'd like to come back and try Okonomiyaki type menu next time. The taste and atmosphere aren't bad, but if you're paying around 4,500 yen per person, I wonder if there are better restaurants out there, so I'm giving it a slightly harsh rating. There is a bar next door and I think they stock a fair amount of alcohol, so I thought that if the price of alcohol were to go down a little more (for my family) I would use it a little more often. (Used on January 17, 2009. Prices, menu, impressions, etc. are as of the time of use.)
