春らしい陽気が定着してきた土曜日、私用のため川越市内を訪ね歩いています。この日の昼食はこちらにて。川越駅から徒歩圏内にあり、お店の周囲に豚骨特有の匂いを漂わせていたラーメン専門店です。
■『五葉らーめん（並）』-890円-
お店の名前を冠したこちらの看板的なラーメン。味の濃さ、油の量、麺のかたさはそれぞれ「普通」でお願いしました。
トロみを帯びたスープは、醤油と豚骨のベースに鶏油などで鶏特有の旨みを加えた味わい。大別すると「家系ラーメン」に類似していますが、その特徴とされる尖った塩気はなく、マイルド且つ深みのあるものに仕上げられています。このスープに合わせる中細ストレート麺は、歯応えの中にモッチリした弾力も感じられるもので、相性芳しく美味しい中核を形成するとともに、チャーシューや海苔、煮玉子などのトッピングによって美味の底上げも果たされていました。
こちらの本店や上福岡店を訪れたことはあるものの、前述したメニュー以外を頂くことがほとんどで味の記憶が曖昧になっていました。果たして食事前の期待を超えてきたこの一杯は、大きな満足を私に残してくれましたね。美味しいラーメン、ごちそうさまでした。
