良く晴れあっがた休日の市民祭りの屋台会場。カバブやサモサを出す人気のサッカールさんのお店は地域の子供たちで長蛇の列。インド人スタッフも数名で大混乱。大人は遠慮という訳で大将に本日の営業を確認してから夕方、サッカール店舗の方にお邪魔しました。留守番のシェフのお迎えを受けてたあと、早速ビールを一杯、インドビールは売り切れとの事でなぜかコロナビールを勧められ、数十年ぶりのライムを瓶に突っ込むスタイルで妙に郷愁を感じつつ乾杯いたします。 広い店内ですが今日は私たちを含めて２組、休日にしてはちょっとサビシイ感じでした。
しばらくして、おかえりとのシェフの日本語の掛け声とともに市民祭りの撤収を終えた大将を始めとする集団、４，５人くらい。お祭りでインド人の仲間が来ていたのでしょうか。元気でフレンドリーな集団でにわかに騒がしくなりました。
こちらも食が進みます。おすすめは当店考案の「インド風とり皮炒め」鶏皮のゼラチン質がタップリ、脂分が乗ってパリッとした鶏皮表面の相性が良くビールが進みます。そして定番の結構濃い味のシークカバブ、 ツレはナン付きのチキンカレー、更にサモサにタンドリーチキンのサラダ！調子に乗っていろいろ注文します。注意しなければならないのは一皿がすべて大盛でかなりボリューム感がある事です。 結局、大量の残ってしまいましたがお土産にする事ができました。容器に留め具、ビニール袋で封をして紙袋にまで入れてくれました。
大将たちは屋台の打ち上げか、いなくなってしまいましたが、長々とビールを飲み続ける私たちシェフの心のこもったサービスとご配慮、長年営業を続けられているとの事、とても分かるような気がします。
