All-day dining supervised by world championship gold medalist Tsunogaki
The dining room, supervised by the head chef of Hotel Boston Plaza Kusatsu and World Culinary Olympics gold medalist Tsunogaki, is "casual most of the time, smart at times." This French cuisine dining |
Following last week's Saga and Hakata tour, this week I took a quick solo trip to Kusatsu, Shiga for one night. I had originally seen a TV program about "Yamanami Kobo" in Koga, and thought, "Yes, let's go to Shiga!" So I did some research and found out that the head chef of the main dining room at the Boston Club Plaza Hotel, a Hankyu Hanshin affiliate, near Kusatsu, is a World Culinary Olympics champion chef, and booked a full-course dinner and all-you-can-drink accommodation plan. The trip was rainy, so there was no golf, I found the "Japanese Art Brut 45 People Exhibition" at the Prefectural Art Museum and went there, and I was going to a golf bar owned by an acquaintance but ended up at a different bar by mistake (I never thought there would be two golf bars in Kusatsu?), so it was a very fulfilling two-day, one-night trip. Anyway, the important thing about Liberty is that the Liberty course costs 7,000 yen, and includes 90 minutes of all-you-can-drink, and the two-day, one-night plan, including breakfast (1,800 yen), costs 18,100 yen, so I booked it right away. I went there at 5pm for dinner, and there was a table next to me with a setting for one person, but I was the only one there until I finished eating. However, the content was quite substantial for a 7,000 yen Restaurants course, and even with all-you-can-drink, it was only 2,500 yen more. It was a waste, even though it was a rainy weekday night! Even though I'm not very knowledgeable about French cuisine food, I thought it was pretty delicious and they serve good wines. The breakfast the next morning had a wide variety of dishes, all of which were of a high standard, and it was quite busy, but it was lonely at night. When I checked out the next day, I saw that the lunch was quite busy with ladies, but it was a waste, it's a hidden gem in Kusatsu. The service was also good! I enjoyed my hotel life.
