土曜のランチは近江八幡ユースホステル内のカフェ[HAKO TE AKO]。
カフェが始まったのは数年前と思うが、かなり人気のようで13時半に入店したら1時間以上待ち。自分達以外ほぼ全員が若い女性。近江八幡にこんな店が有ったのか...
古民家カフェと紹介しているサイトも有るが、建物は古民家ではなく、”滋賀県蒲生郡勧業館”として明治時代に建てられた公共施設を移築したもの。
そしてこの家の苗字は勧修寺さん（表札があがっている）。今は双子の姉妹とお兄さんと店を運営していて、やはり名家(公家の格式)の勧修寺家の末裔との事。お父さんは長男ではないが、現在続く勧修寺家はその家しかないと言う。平安時代から続く家系、伯爵家が身近に居た環境に、改めて気付いた。
近江八幡は江戸時代以降の近江商人の街として有名だが、旧市街地周辺の集落の歴史はもっと長い。集落ごとに有る小さな神社も鎌倉以前の奈良・平安時代のものが多く（飛鳥時代のものもある)、国指定重要文化財クラスの物がたくさん有る。もっと知られても良いのに。
