Yamayoshi, whose main store is located in Kashihara, Nara Prefecture, is a flour-based restaurant where you can enjoy Kansai-style Monja-yaki. It is located in a somewhat remote area, about a 15-minute walk from Omihachiman Station. The menu includes Monja-yaki, Okonomiyaki, Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles), Teppan-yaki, etc. Monja-yaki seemed too filling for one person, so I decided to have Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) and Chicken Thigh Grill. Chicken Thigh Grill: Grill it yourself on the hotplate. It comes with vegetables such as onions, carrots, and green peppers. You can add salt and pepper to your liking. No sauce. The chicken is soft and the taste is decent. Thick Noodle Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles): Cooked in the kitchen and brought to the hotplate. This thick noodle Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) comes with a lot of tempura flakes by default, so it is very oily. In addition, the pork belly gives off oil, so it was like eating Aburasoba (Oiled Ramen Noodles). I can handle oil well, but even for me, it was a bit spicy... (^_^;) I'm sure it would be no problem for sports-minded students! Next time I go, I'd like to go with a group and try the "Monja-yaki" arranged in the Kansai style.
