太郎坊宮の参拝後に予約せず行きました。「予約の方ですか？」といきなり聞かれたので、やはり予約が必要なのでしょうね。ちょうど空いた席があったので準備ができるまでしばらく待ち、個室に案内されました。
メニューはある程度把握しており、単純に肉を焼くより店独自の調理を味わいたいので、ハンバーグステーキ御膳に的を絞っていました。しかしイザ注文すると「昨日で売り切れです！」、ではビフカツと言えば「それも昨日で売り切れです！」とのこと。
「何を頼めば出てきますか？」と聞けば、今の二品以外はありとのこと、二種類の焼肉が楽しめる万葉御膳に（仕方なく）決めました。
しばらく待つと着火した固形アルコールとともにお膳が来ました。まずは野菜から(笑)とサラダを平らげ、お味噌汁を・・・と思いきや牛肉のスープでした。軽い塩味で胡椒が効いていて、さすが近江牛の専門店と言う味で満足。
お肉は上カルビ・上ロースが３枚づつで、それぞれ一枚づつ乗せ焼肉開始です。カルビは厚切りなので時間をかけ、ロースを程よくあぶった状態でいただきました。口に入れると脂が程よく溶け、オリジナルのサッパリ風味のタレが近江牛の風味を助け、これは美味いの一言でした。厚切りのカルビは少々時間をかけたので程よく火が通り、油の味が好きな人にはたまらない味わいかと思いました。見た目は少々量が足りない感じでしたが、やはりサシの入った高級肉は多くは食べられず、この６枚でちょうどです。
厚切りカルビが焼ける間にタタキを味わいましたが、赤身としょうゆのサッパリコンビが近江牛の味わいを噛むほどに感じられ、タタキの御膳のありかと思いました。添えられた丸い小さなコロッケも、食べればアツアツ本格派で職を飽きさせないアクセントとして働きます。
ただ、残念なのはご飯が炊きたてピカピカでなかったことかな？
開店直後に近い時間に入店したので白飯は炊き立てが欲しかったですね。
メニュー写真どおりのものが出てくるお店ですから、この点は要改善かな？と思いました。
しかし、ご飯以外は素晴らしかったですから、次はビールでも頼んで料理をゆっくり味わい、ご飯は漬物と美味なスープで頂きますか(笑)
