It's half price day for kamaage udon, so get a great deal on kamatama!!
While playing in the snowy Oku-Ibuki area, my cousin sent me a message on LINE that today was half-price kamaage (deep-fried udon noodles). I was hungry, so I left at 1pm and visited the Nagahama store. I visited outside of lunchtime, but the restaurant was 80% full, and the man boiling the noodles was busy dealing with the constant stream of orders for kamaage (deep-fried udon noodles). I was hungry, so I ordered a special 2-bowl set and a warm egg. The udon noodles were half-price at 330 yen, plus the warm egg at 110 yen, for a total of 440 yen. After getting an empty bowl and securing a seat, I got a bowl of free toppings: green onion, ginger, and tempura flakes, and poured the hot udon noodles into the bowl. I put the toppings on top, and completed my original kamatama. I mixed the udon thoroughly, checking the saltiness while adding the broth, and sprinkled shichimi (seven-spice powder) halfway through to change the flavor, and ate it all. The large amount of ginger, green onion, and tempura flakes mixed with the chewy udon and egg was delicious. The two bowls of udon were a great value lunch, filling me up after 4 hours and 25km of skiing. Thank you for the meal.
Limited time only: Hot tantan udon - very well made tantan!
I visited this restaurant, which is open all day long, even after lunchtime. Even though I visited at 3pm, there were quite a few customers inside. I usually order kitsune udon at udon restaurants, but I've had kitsune here before at other restaurants, so I hesitated between udon and tantan, and decided to go for the limited edition tantan out of curiosity. Spicy and delicious tantan udon, warm, regular, 650 yen, rating 3.2 This is an extremely simple udon dish, with boiled udon topped with the original tantan soup, sweet and spicy meat miso, chopped green onions, and chili oil. I added a lot of free toppings of tempura flakes and chopped green onions. The thick tantan soup was delicious, with a good balance of seafood stock and sesame soy sauce. The tempura flakes I added added a crunchy texture and oiliness to the thick soup, making it unexpectedly delicious. After the noodles were served, I wanted to add rice to the thick soup as a final dish, but I didn't have time so I gave up. Thank you for the meal.

Marugame Seimen's "Attention to Detail"
Marugame Seimen's udon noodles are made with just these three ingredients: 100% Hokkaido flour, salt, and water. The udon noodles are boiled in a large boiling pot using the shop's noodle making machi |
On the second day of the holiday, I went for an early morning ride, lured by the clear weather. The lakeside road was packed with Biwa's best roadies and riders. I took the usual route, home → Hikone → Kohoku Waterfowl Park, and made a U-turn. I met up with my wife at this restaurant in Nagahama and went to get the limited-time TOKIO collaboration noodles. It was before noon, but because of the holiday, the restaurant was lined up outside. About 50% of the customers ordered tomato and egg, so it seems to be popular. I was also hungry from the morning ride, so I ordered a large tomato and Curry Udon for 980 yen, which was 950 yen using a web coupon. My wife bought pork soup udon + two tempura for 1,170 yen and sat down. I wanted something spicy, so I added ginger and chopped green onions to the tomato and egg. It was the first time I'd had tomato and egg curry in a year, and it was as delicious as I expected, but perhaps my expectations were higher than last year, so I wasn't as impressed as last year. Last year, the balance of seafood broth and curry tomato was perfect, but I'm not sure if it was a batch variation, so I'll try it again within the period. After eating all the udon, I poured the soup into rice and ate it, which was also delicious like risotto. My wife's pork soup udon was more delicious with a stronger miso flavor, but both were delicious limited-edition udon. Thank you for the meal.
