Nagahama is famous as the place where Toyotomi Hideyoshi, a young ruler of Japan, built a castle. I heard that you can eat Omi beef at a reasonable price at Yakiniku (Grilled meat) restaurant located just a 10-minute walk from JR Nagahama Station along the shopping street, so I decided to check it out before heading to my accommodation. Since it was a weekday night, there were about 2 groups of customers. I was given a tatami room seat, but it looks like there are counter seats as well. On this day, I ordered short ribs, salted tongue, and fatty pork. The rice uses Omi rice. I was very satisfied with the Omi combo of Omi beef and Omi rice. It was my first time visiting Nagahama, but it was a fulfilling trip as I enjoyed grilling Omi beef while visiting various sightseeing spots such as Lake Biwa, Nagahama Castle, and Toyokuni Shrine, which is dedicated to Lord Hideyoshi near the station. *Shinkansen and limited express trains I rode on this day: Kodama 703 N700A Odawara (07:35) → Shin-Osaka (10:51) Limited express Thunderbird 21 Shin-Osaka (12:12) → Kanazawa (14:55) Limited express Shirasagi 62 Kanazawa ( 15:48) → Maibara (17:44)
