About 30 years ago, when I lived in Iwata, I would rotate between Mataichian, Gyokukado, and Takoman as souvenirs when I went back to Nagoya. While I was living in Iwata, the Iwata Interchange on the Tomei Expressway was built, and this restaurant opened right in front of the interchange, so since then, I've often brought back Mataichian as souvenirs when I go back home. A nostalgic Mataichian. I bought some kintsuba as a souvenir. In addition to the standard red bean, I also bought seasonal sweet potato and chestnut kintsuba and red bean paste and butter kasutera. The attached cafe seems to be popular, and they apparently serve some eye-catching parfaits.
