I often pass by a Japanese Japanese Confectionery shop while driving in Shizuoka and found out that it had an eat-in area, so I looked into it and found out they had delicious looking mochi (rice cakes). It was a hot day so I decided to have some Shaved ice as well. The mochi is called Abekawa Mochichi and is surrounded by three shiny, smooth mochi pieces with kinako (roasted soybean flour) and plenty of red bean paste. You can add brown syrup to taste. The shaved Shaved ice is delicious and tastes like it's freshly made, with even more azuki bean matcha ice. You pour the red bean paste on the ice yourself. I thought there was surprisingly little azuki bean paste in it, but there was plenty of it coming out from the ice as well. Shaved ice is irresistible for red bean paste lovers.
