伊豆箱根鉄道三島田町駅の真向かいにあるインパクト大なお店。
「スリランカ薬膳カレー本店」
「スリランカカレー本店」
「スパイスの達人エバ」
など書いてありますが、店名はどれでもないんです。
「スリランカカレー セイロンパラダイス」
お店の方はみな日本語堪能なスリランカ人。
訪問する前はスリランカ人による日本風カレーライスのお店、と聞いていたんです。
確かにカツカレーなど日本式カレーライスもありますが、スリランカカレーもちゃんとありますね。
いずれも用いるスパイスはスリランカ直輸入のものだそうです。
デビル料理やカトレット、ゴダンバロティなどのスリランカ料理もズラリ。
その他ハンバーグやスパゲッティなどの洋食メニューも。
地方のファミリー需要も見据えた賢い構成になっていますね。
スリランカスパイスを用いたカレーライスも気になるし、現地っぽいスリランカ料理も気になる。
けれどもこのメニューを見つけて即決しました。
★キンメカレー¥980
言わずと知れた伊豆の名物金目鯛と、スリランカカレー、奇跡のコラボレーション。
カレーはココナッツミルクたっぷりのスリランカ仕様。
かなりクリーミーでマイルドなのかなと思いきや、塩味がそこそこ強めなのと、時折あらわれる青唐辛子でピシッとした辛さも。
そして金目鯛。
これがビックリするほどのボリューム。
おそらくは干物をいったん火にかけてから用いているのでしょうか。
白身の旨味と皮の香ばしさがギュッと詰まっています。
これは伊豆でないといただけないスリランカカレーですね。
この日ランチタイムにはOLさんたちがカツカレーを食べていました。
スリランカを意識するしないに拘わらず、誰もが楽しめるカレーのお店でした。
