Hiranoya, about a 3-minute walk from Izukyu Shimoda Station, is a cafe and restaurant. We used an old folk house that was built on the site of a depot at the time the port opened. The exterior has sea cucumber walls, which have been gradually disappearing in recent years, and the interior has a retro and calming atmosphere, with decorations from the time Shimoda Port opened, such as lighting fixtures modeled after ship lamps and chairs made of steel. The menu is Western Cuisine including Steak. You can also use it for a casual coffee break while touring around Shimoda. The store also exhibits materials from the time the port opened, such as ukiyo-e prints from the Edo period and a compass that was once used for navigation, and is loved by the locals as a small museum in a historic town. A scarcity center is a place that supplies minimal supplies such as firewood and water. Shimoda was opened as a port and the Treaty of Shimoda was concluded, but the shogunate refused trade and only allowed supplies of scarce items such as firewood, charcoal, water, and food necessary for navigation. However, due to ambiguous agreements in the treaty, substantial trade was carried out under the pretext of scarce goods. When I visited around 12:00 on a Saturday, I found a building with beautiful sea cucumber walls. A sign posted outside states ``Opening hours from 11:00 to 16:00, pets are allowed on the terrace, and recommended menu.'' When you go to the entrance, you will see a sign that says ``Lunch time is meal menu only.'' Of course, it would be a problem to only have tea at lunchtime on a Saturday. When I opened the door, the restaurant, which had about 20 seats, was about half full. When I told them there were two of us, we were shown to a table by the window. When you look into the courtyard, you will see a footbath and a sign saying ``Footbath available.'' When to take a footbath is a difficult question. *Service Steak 150g 2,000 yen Includes rice, salad, and coffee Steak served in about 15 minutes. Bean sprouts are spread on the iron plate, and pre-cut Steak are placed on top. Toppings are fried garlic and lemon. Garnishes include carrots, broccoli, potatoes, and squash. It's a pity that the meat is so thin at this price. When I tried it, the soy sauce-based sauce and the meat had a good balance, making it soft and delicious. Jelly is served with Shimoda coupons. *Today's curry costs 1,300 yen, comes with salad and coffee, ordered by partner. The curry, which was served in about 15 minutes, had a lot of ingredients and was very filling. Although the historical building stands out, I felt that it was a very capable Western Cuisine restaurant.
