15 minutes walk from JR Kanuma Station. A hidden gem just off Kouboudai Street.
We offer dishes made with Kanuma Satsuki Pork, Kanuma Konnyaku, and local vegetables harvested that morning. Please enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by the owner, who has trained in all genres of Ja |
From the information in the local magazine Monmiya, which I always use. There is an Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in Kanuma that serves thick-sliced sauteed pork for lunch. It is rare information that is hard to find on the Internet about whether Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) is open during the day. restaurant is in a corner of an apartment building at the fork in the road west of the Kobodai intersection. Monmiya states that there are five parking spaces, but I don't know where it is other than the two or three spaces in front of restaurant. When you go through the noren, there is a counter and five tatami-mat seats. When I ordered thick-sliced tonteki (980 yen) from a man who seemed to be the owner, who was tidying up, he explained, "It will take some time, but is that okay?" I agreed and waited for a while. It may be because of a cold wave that occurs once every few years, but the inside of the store was still cold. The customers who came later also seemed to be looking for thick-sliced tonteki, but it was sold out before 1:00 p.m. It seems that they don't serve a lot of it on the menu. The tonteki arrived in about 20 minutes. The thickest part was about 2.5 cm. It is often the case that the picture in the magazine looks much better, but the actual dish is also quite impressive. When I took a bite, the lean pork loin, which was well prepared, was moist. The Japanese-style sauce made with onions had a moderate sweetness and sourness, with a mild taste. It is not a dish that costs less than 1000 yen, so the cost performance is excellent. The rice is a regular portion in a rice bowl. Looking at the blackboard of the lunch menu, it says that a large portion is free. It seems that a large portion would be better for this tonteki. The texture is chewy and the rice is delicious. I was worried that the owner was working full time day and night, as he seemed low-spirited throughout the day. On the day I visited, he was working alone, so it must have been even more difficult. I don't know whether the thick-sliced tonteki will become a specialty first, or whether the lunch will attract more business at night, but I hope he will do his best.
