While browsing Twitter, a friend of mine asked his followers for recommended yakitori restaurants. Oh, I want to eat yakitori. I was in that mood, so I went to Tori Nana East Exit Branch. This seems to be the main branch. There is one at the west exit, but it's not an exaggeration to say that it's a different branch because of the different types of alcohol and menu. I arrived at the branch, so I went to the counter as usual. One of my complaints about this branch is that the head chef is always at the counter, but he works silently, so the atmosphere is awkward. The previous head chef would somehow talk to me, but I don't remember the current head chef talking to me. At the previous branch where the head chef was, he would talk to me even if I was drinking alone at the counter, so did I do something? First of all, a beer, ice cold beer, delicious. Waiting for the food. Potato salad, with boiled egg on top, crumble it as you eat it. Delicious! The meat mixed in has changed, it looks like luncheon meat, good! I ran out of beer here, so I ordered a highball in a mega mug. Ugh... this is the first time I've had a mega-sized highball with such a strong whiskey... Does the regular size have a strong whiskey kick to it? This is getting me drunk I only drink beer or sake at this bar, so this was my first time trying a highball Long-awaited yakitori. Having said that, I've never thought the yakitori here was delicious, but it's not bad either, it's just average Since their specialty is chicken dishes, I wish they would put a little more effort into their yakitori Chicken fillet tempura with plum and shiso It's called tempura, but it's more like fritters than tempura The batter is thick It's piping hot when I take a bite, and I pop it in huffing and puff, then quickly wash it down with a highball Delicious... chicken fillet, plum, shiso, tastes as expected, but the batter is a nice middleman They also have the extra spicy fried chicken chicken dish, which seem to go well with sake, and are a must-have when I come here Available in three levels of spiciness: mild, hot, and very spicy Deep fried chicken wings are dipped in a sweet and salty sauce, and the spiciness changes depending on the amount of pepper added I always go for the extra spicy, and the spiciness of the pepper and the citrus aroma that you get from it makes it a refreshing dish Maybe I'll try it with a lemon sour next time? For the final course, they also serve Ramen, but here they mostly serve Oyako-don (Chicken and egg bowl) (chicken and egg on rice). A sweet and salty soup with a strong dashi flavor, a flavorful, runny egg (though today it was overcooked so it wasn't that runny), muscular chicken, and rice that had absorbed the broth and was even tastier. All of this for just 570 yen is an incredible deal, irresistibly tasty and cheap. It seems ridiculous that a final bowl of Ramen in a nearby restaurant costs nearly 1000 yen, but I did eat it. This restaurant has a wide selection of sake, and when they have limited edition sake in stock, they also have menus using seasonal ingredients, which I like, although they didn't have either today. I was full, so when I went to pay the bill, my second complaint was that they couldn't use my main card, AMEX, so they only accept VISA or master, so I reluctantly went with VISA. Next time I'll come back for some sake, as this is the only place with a wide selection of sake these days. I used to like Shanari, though.
