Gabukich: A hidden Italian Cuisine bar with great happy hour deals
■Date and time of use: October 9, 2023, 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm ■Number of people: 2 ■Amount spent: About 6,500 yen ■Usage situation: 3 customers ahead, about 6 customers behind This Italian Cuisine Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) is located on the first floor of a building right outside the west exit of Oyama Station. It was relatively empty in the evening on the last day of a three-day weekend. Happy hour is extremely good value. Although the portions are not huge, it is great to be able to get a glass of wine for 100 yen. The appetizer platter is cute and quite good. The pasta is inexpensive, so the portions are small. But for two people, this amount is just right. The sauce has a strong flavor and is perfect as a snack with alcohol. This is a hidden gem of an Italian Cuisine bar that I would like to visit again during happy hour.

This is my first visit to an Italian Cuisine Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) in six months, located on the first floor of Roble Building, just outside the west exit of Oyama Station. Although I didn't make a reservation, they kindly let me in until 19:00. The selection is limited during happy hour, but a glass of wine and a Jim Beam highball are 100 yen each, which is extremely good value. I love the seasonal snacks, such as snap peas, bamboo shoots, and strawberries. The pasta is just the right size for two people. Both the carbonara and the Neapolitan are light and easy to eat. The young staff are brisk and energetic. Even if you're not aiming for happy hour, this is a great casual bar in front of Oyama Station that I highly recommend.
