今から８年ぐらい前、両国にあった「ときせい」という味噌ラーメンの名店の近所に住んでいた。土曜の昼に濃厚な逸品を食べるのを楽しみに、平日働いていた。その店は確かビルの解体を機に、まもなく閉店。わたしは途方に暮れた。
「どみそ」さんが、あの店の味に近いと聞いたのはそれからしばらくしたとき。確かに、海苔がデフォルトでついてくるのも、背脂入りの「こってり」の味も似通っている。それ以来、思い出したように足を運んでいる。
前置きが長くなりましたが、今回は初めて「こってり」ではない背脂なしの味噌ラーメンを頼んだ。なぜか？直近の人間ドックでお医者さんから「コレステロールちと気をつけてください。血管詰まってぽっくり」などと脅されたから。入り口で食券を買うとき、あの言葉がよぎった。白髪ネギもトッピング。
もちろん、背脂なしの味噌ラーメンも美味しいです。このお店はなんせ、太ちぢれ麺の食感が良い。かなり「しっかり」していて食べ応えがある。そして、上にのっているもやしやネギのシャキシャキした食感もたまらない。
ただ、やはり満足度で言えば「こってり」だった。ときどきしか来られないんだから、その時ぐらいはチマチマ考えないことである。後から入店してくる人が、次々にこってりをオーダーしているのが恨めしかった。次回は一択。そのあと２日、レタスだけで生きればいいのだ。
