ビアホールとして超有名なこの店、銀座店以外には入った事があるのだが、しょっちゅう前を通っていたにも関わらず、1回も入った事がなかった。中途半端な時間でチョット食べたかったので入店。
土日にはしばらく行列しないと入店できないと言うこの店にすんなり入店。
広い。2024年2月17日付で国の登録有形文化財（建築物）になったと言う建物とビアホール内部の壁画はお世辞抜きで圧巻。系列店とは一味異なる。
ランチメニューのオーダーが可能で、選んだのがカツサンド1,100円、セットドリンクにアイスコーヒー200円をつける。
店内を見渡すと店の一番奥のカウンター内側の壁画が特に立派、周りの壁にも数枚の壁画、そして天井が変わっている。季節に合わせた造花の桜はご愛嬌。
銀座と言う土地柄だと思うが外国人が非常に多い。
登場したカツサンド。パンはトーストされていてカツは分厚く適度な硬さ。非の打ち所無く美味しい。失礼な言い方になるが、待たせずに（時間を測った訳では無いが、100席は超えそうなビアホールのアラカルトオーダーを待たせずにこなす、きちんとしたレベルで出す、私はアルコールがダメなのでアイスコーヒーにしたが、今のアイスコーヒー、自販機、コンビニで買う物ですらある水準に達しているので、この店は自分でドリップ又はパックで麦茶の様に抽出（最近の主流）しているかも分からないが、私基準では合格レベル。
そして何よりここはビアホール。気のせいかもしれないが、皆、幸せそうに、そして美味しそうにビールを飲んでいる。銀座で昼呑み。シニア層にはここはパラダイス。
最後に壁画は『大壁画をはじめ、きめ細かな装飾を施されらそれぞれの壁画には、建築家である管原栄蔵氏のこだわりと遊び心がちりばめられています。例えば、古代ギリシャ風に描かれた遠景に目黒工場（現在の恵比寿）が遠目に見えているのも、そんな遊び心のひとつかもしれません。』［ビアホールライオンより］と説明がある。
『内装のテーマは「豊穣と収穫」。最も目を引くのが店内奥のガラスモザイク壁画。縦2.75m×横5.75mもあり、大麦を収穫する女性たちや愛を象徴するアカンサスの花が、250色の国産ガラスで描かれている』、『れんがのように見える壁はタイル張りで、「大地」をイメージしたくすんだ紅色。巨大な梁に支えられた空間は広く、天井は高い場所で7m、天井はもともと白かったが、たばこなどですすけ、歴史を感じる風合い』［https://www.tokyo-np.co.jp/article/171832］なのだそうだ。
88年の歴史ある「ビアホール建築の一大傑作」と言う謳い文句も納得なのである。
