色々用事を片付けて、平日の14時半過ぎに到着。カウンターの1番奥の席に座れました。昼から圧倒的な雰囲気とケア。
美味しいトムコリンズで喉を潤して、遅めの昼食に、エスカルゴとかなり悩んでアメリカンクラブハウスサンドを注文。想定以上にボリュームがあり、エスカルゴが正解だったかもしれません…
セレンディピティを注文。『透明なリンゴジュースがないから少し濁ってしまうけど良いですか？』と聞かれて、大きく頷く私。帝国メインバーのセレンディピティ、わくわくします。そして、とても旨旨。爽やかで腕が確かなバーテンダーさんが良い。
アメリカンクラブハウスサンドに合うバーボンを出してもらい、しめはスティンガー。学生時代にここで出逢い、40年色んなバーで飲み倒しているカクテル。今日のお目当て。
時刻は16時。丁度バーテンダーさん達の入替の時間なのか、バー内の雰囲気が変わった気がしました。違うバーテンダーさんのスティンガーがイマイチ。期待が高すぎたかもしれませんが…客に対するケアも急にレベルダウン。
長居しすぎたかとテンション駄々下がりでお会計。大店を楽しむ難しさを再確認しました。
