平日1930過ぎに、日比谷・帝国ホテルの２階にあるメインバー「オールドインペリアルバー」に会社の同僚と3人で訪れました。
照明は暗く、室内は広かったです。バーカウンターおよびバックバーは横に長くスタッフは6名はおられました。そして直方体の帝国ホテルのバーだけあって室内も「箱」のようで、丸みを帯びた箇所が見当たりませんでした。
我々3人はバーカウンターに横並びで座りました。
そして女性バーテンダーがお酒作りとサービスを担当してくれました。
私がオーダーしたのは「マウント富士」。
オールドトムジン(甘めのジン)、マラスキーノ、パイナップルなどが入ったショートカクテルで、レッドチェリーがデコレートされてました。
うっすら黄色が入った白いカクテルで、雪をかぶった富士山山頂の上から太陽が昇る状況を表したカクテルだとのことです。
あっさりしていて、とても美味しかったです。
バーテンさんによると帝国ホテルのバーは100年前から営業されていたらしいです。「1924年といえば関東大震災が前の年にありましたよね？倒壊しなかったのですか？」と尋ねた所、帝国ホテルは当時から頑丈で、関東大震災で潰れなかった数少ない建物だとのことです。さすがは直方体の頑丈な帝国ホテルです。
私のカクテルを含めて、多くのカクテルは(税サ込)でちょうど3,000円ほどでした。
私がバーで通常飲むようなウィスキー等もだいたい同じような値段でした。まあまあのお値段ではありますが、他に課金されないので計算はし易いと思います。
品格を感じる帝国ホテルのバーで楽しい時間を過ごすことができました。
