店構えから既に現地感。棚に所狭しとテキーラが並べられておりメニューはなし。何となく好みを伝えながら店主に任せるというスタイル。
ちなみにテキーラと謳うには、大まかに特定地域で作られたアガベ(竜舌蘭、サボテンの仲間だと思っていたが実は違うらしい)を総原料の51%以上使用されていて、最低2回の蒸留、更に蒸留はテキーラ村その周辺地域で蒸留されたものでないといけない。またアガベ100%使用はプレミアムテキーラとランクが高く、更に熟成期間によりブランコ/シルバー(製造後すぐ瓶詰)、ゴールド(ブランコと熟成したもののブレンド)、レポサド(2ヶ月以上-1年未満の樽熟成)、アネホ(1年以上の樽熟成)、エキストラアネホ(3年ほど樽熟成したもの)と特徴ないし価値が変わる。昨日はレポサドを中心に1人3-4種ずつを飲んだが、一つずつフレッシュ感、樽由来のバニラ感と色調、アガベ由来の甘み、蒸留回数によるドライさ、滑らかさがかなり異なる。そして40度前後のアルコールなのに意外に酔わない。どうやらこのお酒も日本酒同様、一気飲みのイメージにより敬遠される被害者の模様。テキーラもなかなか面白いですよ。
