We went to a friend's solo exhibition at a gallery in Ginza with friends from high school, and headed to OKUROJI on the way back. There were many interesting restaurants and many options, but we chose this one, which has a relatively good reputation. We entered the restaurant around 5:30 p.m. as it was still early, and the restaurant was quiet. We were shown to a box-shaped table. First, we toasted with draft beer ([b:Master's Dream]). The menu included a variety of tapas and dishes, including today's recommendations. We ordered the following items. The ``[b:Assortment of three appetizers]'' (photo shows two servings) included chicken pinchos, marinated sweet potatoes and mushrooms, and Spanish-style Gyoza / Dumpling, which were an interesting idea and tasted pretty good. ``[b:Serrano jamon]'' was sliced from a chunk of thigh on the bone that was placed on the counter and served. It was a small amount to share among five people, but we savored it. ``[b:Spanish potato salad]'' was served on a thinly sliced baguette. Instead of mayonnaise, it is tossed in aioli sauce, and pink pepper adds a nice accent to the flavor. "B: Spanish-style tripe stewed in tomato sauce" is a typical tripe dish, but it is served in a casserole and is quite filling. The tripe is soft and has no strong flavor, and the garbanzo beans stewed with it are also delicious. "B: Iberian pork belly and mushroom revert" is a Spanish-style scrambled egg topped with aioli sauce. The taste and style are pretty much as expected, but it is delicious. "B: Oysters and Kujo leek Ajillo" is of course served boiling, and the surface is covered with the green of Kujo leek. A decent-sized Oyster appears from inside, and it is nice that it is coated with flour. It is served with baguettes for each person, and we enjoy not even a single bit of the oil that has been infused with the flavor. "Alpondigas shepherd's pie" is made with Iberian pork meatballs, served in the style of a shepherd's pie using mashed potatoes, a British dish. This was also served hot, and the gentle taste and texture were impressive. We ordered the "Seafood paella" in the M size for 3-4 people. It looked quite luxurious, with large head-on shrimp, mussels, clams, and small shrimp covering the surface, and other ingredients such as white beans and green peas could be seen. The rice, which is infused with the flavor of seafood and has a slight hint of saffron, is cooked on the firm side and has a charred texture, making it quite delicious. There is an all-you-can-drink option for alcohol, but we ordered wine by the bottle. We ordered "Viña Albarri Verdejo" and "Octavo Arte", white wines, and although they were only around 4,000 yen, we didn't have high expectations, but the actual impression was that they were "reasonable". The food was shared by five people, so the portions were not that much, but we ordered a lot of dishes, so the total volume was quite large. The food was generally good, and the satisfaction level in terms of taste was reasonable. However, most of the dishes were for four people, Oyster, meatballs, shrimp in the paella, and mussels all came in four pieces, which was a bit inconvenient for five people to share, so it would have been nice if they were flexible even if they had to add to the bill. The amount of alcohol was modest, so I think a little over 5,000 yen per person is quite reasonable. The service was impeccable, but the wait time was limited to two hours, so the staff was a bit hurried, such as quickly clearing away empty dishes. The seats were a bit cramped, so I wish they were a little more spacious. Apparently this restaurant originated in London, and the style of the popular Spanish bar there was brought directly to Tokyo. Some of the dishes incorporate British styles, such as shepherd's pie. Perhaps because of this, it feels more like a pub than a bar, and since it's open all day, it seems possible to stop in for a drink in the afternoon. If I have the chance, I'd like to try it that way.
