大手町で仕事をすることが多いのだが、新しくなった大手町フィナンシャルシティのエリアにあるお店でちょっとビールを飲んでみた。
ビールの種類が多いということで、ちょっと期待したのだが、リストを見てびっくりした。毎日ビールのメニューが変わるようなのだが、この日は３０種類くらいある内、４種類位の海外のビールの他は、全て国内の「地ビール」だった。他に、定番っぽいハイネケンもあったのだが。
で、味についてだが、正直、どのビールも同じように管理して、同じように注いで出されているので、「不味くはないが、個性がない」状態になっていた。ビール好きの私としては「ビールが可哀想」という印象を持ってしまった。
もっとも、これまでの私の経験で「地ビールの大半は美味しくない」と言う認識を持っているので、個性がないと思ったのは当然かもしれない。何百年もビールを作っているヨーロッパと比べると、最近の法改正で作ることのできるようになっただけの経験しかない日本のビールが上回れるわけはないのだが。
ちなみに、グラスの温度管理もあまり気を使っていない感じだった。注ぐのが下手な方だったのか、泡もすぐに消えてしまった。
ちょっとおつまみも頼んでみたが、どのビールに合わせるつもりでメニューを用意しているのかさっぱり意図が分からないものばかりだった。というか、食事についてはメキシカンと謳っているので、色々あるのだが、メキシカン料理的な味がなかった。
でも、場所がいいし、今回は平日の21:00位だったからか、２人ですぐに入れたので、あまりビールに文句を言わない人を連れて行くにはいいかもしれない
と、逆に思った。お値段も１パイントで７８０円均一だったから、気軽には入れる値段である。
お店の外に「今日のビール」というのをでかでかと貼りだしておけば、その地ビールに興味がある時に、入ろうと思うんだが、種類の多さを売りにするようで、これはお店の構造的に難しいんだろう。
