東京駅八重洲口前にあるJR東日本が運営するカフェ「JAPAN RAIL CAFÉ」は
旅の相談窓口併設のカフェ業態。
この日は朝8時頃の入店。空席が多数あったが9時を回ると大きなスーツケースを持った外国人が多数を占め、海外にいるかのよう。
この日は珈琲で商談前に休憩。日本人なら打ち合わせユースのカフェとなりそうだが、ユーザーの大半は出発前の時間調整だろう。
座敷席も設けてあり、少しでも日本文化に触れてもらおうとする狙いか。
ちなみにテーブル毎に置かれているカバン用の籠には
「not a trash can」（ゴミ箱ではありません）。
文化という表現が正しいかわからないが、様々な違いが見えるのも面白い。
