"Tokubetsu Cafeterias" is located in Nihonbashi Takashimaya. The combination of Imperial Hotel, Yamatoya Sangen, and Nodaiwa allows three generations of a family to enjoy their favorite dishes, or to combine appetizers and main dishes with Western Cuisine. Compared to Imperial Hotel and Nodaiwa, Kamigata cuisine "Yamatoya Sangen" may be a long-established restaurant that is not well known in the Kanto region. It is now operating as "Kino Sangen Co., Ltd." under the umbrella of Osaka restaurant company "Cosmic Holdings". The "Tokubetsu Cafeterias Limited Menu" (10,980 yen), a collaboration between the three restaurants, is a set of cold appetizers, hot appetizers, main dish, dessert, and drink, which is quite interesting and attractive, but this time I will pass on it and only "Godaime Nodaiwa". ◆If it weren't for the efforts of "Nodaiwa" (amid a sharp decline in wild eels and a series of closures of eel restaurants since the 1960s), Edo kabayaki would have fallen into disuse. So, the brand is maintained by the strong support of old fans. I ordered: ●Kasaneju (7,623 yen) Shirayaki (white-grilled eel) Unagiju (rice bowl with eel on top) Soup soup Pickles I have the impression that eels are generally smaller everywhere these days, so I chose to order two pieces of eel for an additional 1,331 yen. Nodaiwa serves Edo-style steamed eel, which is characterized by its "softness." The white-grilled eel allows you to enjoy the fragrant skin, but sake is essential. The restaurant's recommended sake that goes well with eel is Nara's famous sake, ●"Imanishi Seibei Harushika Tokimeki Slightly Sparkling Junmai Sake" (300ml bottle) 1,331 yen, or ●"Chiyomusubi Junmai Kanjuku Koshu" (300ml bottle) 1,936 yen, a popular long-established ginjo brewery in Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture. I was torn between these two, but I went with the "Chiyomusubi" aged sake. It went really well with the eel. Especially the unagi (white-grilled eel). As expected? The size of the eels has been scaled down considerably compared to the past, but the taste is still good. I also like the sauce and it's delicious! The hospitality by the hoteliers, who used to work at the Imperial Hotel, is "special" and perfect, as expected. It will be comforting for customers who are annoyed by low-level service at restaurants. Thank you for the meal!
