老舗のコーヒーショップ『ミカド珈琲店 日本橋本店』を訪ねます。
創業は1948年で、当時は日本におけるコーヒーショップの黎明期だったそう。創業者である金坂景助氏は、輸入商社に勤めていた縁で、コーヒーと出会ったんだとか。いまでは１兆円規模の市場と呼ばれてますから、その先見の明たるや。現在は、ここ日本橋本店を含めて同エリアに２店舗、軽井沢に３店舗を展開しております。
どこか懐かしさを感じさせる建物。螺旋階段などが昭和を切り取ったような雰囲気を強調しております。3階までが店舗になっており、１階はスタンド式、２階以上が着席式になっております。商品自体は同じですが、立ちと座りで値段を変えているのが面白い。
もちろんコーヒーへのこだわりは強いようですが、実はミトミえもんはコーヒーが苦手だったり。笑 ということで、コーヒーを語る言葉は持ち合わせていないので、名物スイーツである「モカソフト」の方をご紹介させていただきます。コーヒーはペーパードリップで丁寧に抽出したものだそうで、後口のすっきりした味わい。ほろ苦さはあるが、ミルクの甘味が上手にバランスをとってくれます。プレーンを１つ乗っかっているのがなんか嬉しい。笑
