2018年7月12日（木）昼食。
八丁堀二丁目のランチの探検が終わったので（全店網羅したわけではない。チェーン店などには行っていない）、今日から八丁堀一丁目のランチ。八丁堀二丁目と一丁目の間には、深くて暗い河がある。いや河はないが、道幅が広くて交通量の多い八重洲通りがある。どうして八丁堀がここで分断されているのだ？ 八重洲通りを境に南は八丁堀、北は茅場町で良いではないか？と思ってしまうが、これはもちろん八重洲通りが比較的新しい道路だから。八重洲通りは以前は越前堀で、関東大震災の復興事業で整備され、1939年（昭和4年）に完成した……。ん？ その昔越前堀だったのなら、なおさらここを境に南は八丁堀、北は茅場町で良いではないか？と思ってしまうのだが。
さて、八丁堀一丁目もいちばん南西のブロックから攻めていくことにする。まずは大衆中華店。11時25分ごろ入って行くと僕が最初の客だった。今週のランチの中から、チャーハンセット（半チャーハンと半刀削麺のセット）（950円）にした。外装にも刀削麺と書いてあったので、それが売りの一つなのかと思って。半刀削麺は7種類の中から味が選べて、麻辣麺にした。
かなり待って出てきたチャーハンセットは、炒飯は高菜炒飯だった。うーむ、今一つ。刀削麺は麺のぴろぴろ感がなかなか良く、麻も辣も効いたスープもまあまあ良く、辛さも適度な辛さで楽しめた。12時が近くなるとお客さんが増えてきて、そのうちに満席になりそうな勢いだった。
