これまでケバブというものを食べたことがない私
正確に言えば、缶詰になったなんちゃってなものくらいは食べたことはあっても、

お店のものとなると、なんとなくテイクアウトでいただくものというイメージがあって、別に食わず嫌いをしているわけではないのに、ついつい手を出しそびれてきました
そうしたところ、最近ロケットニュースの記事を見て、

一度いただいてみたいという気分が盛り上がってきたわけで、連日の猛暑の中、お昼時にやってきたのは、人形町通りにある「サライ」というトルコ料理店です
ここならテイクアウトの他、イートインもできるなと見ていたこちら「サライ」
店名からすると、夏の終わり、24時間テレビの前後に来るのがシャレが効いていて、話としても面白いのかもしれないけれど、そこまで後回しにしてしまったら、気分的な優先順位がまた下がってしまいそうだし、いざそのタイミングになっても、金曜日はカレーだ、月曜日には魚が食べたい、なんてやっているうちに、入る機会を失いそうだから、その気になっている今のうちに入っておいた方がいいなと判断しました
ちなみに、「サライ」というのは、ペルシャ語で“家”だとか“宿”だとかいう意味らしい
「オイシデスヨ～」「ウマイヨ～」などと歌うように呼び込みをしているなか、最初から入る気満々でやってきている私は、躊躇うことなく店内へ
空いている席に着き、卓上のメニューを検めて、私がオーダーしたのは、チキンとビーフの「ミックスケバブランチ(1,000円)」です
右上を見上げれば、テレビモニター
何の番組が放映されているのかなと思ったら、トルコの番組らしきが無音声で流れています
こういうの、外国料理店で時々出くわすことがあるけれど、異国情緒を感じさせる、一種の環境ビデオみたいなつもりなのかもしれないな
さて、まず配されたのはオレンジ色のスープ
少々警戒をしながらいただいてみれば、仄かにトマトの風味と酸味を感じるけれど、特段クセはないので一安心
続いてほどなくやってきた「ミックスケバブ」
こちらも、おそらくは日本人の味覚に忖度をした味付けにしているのだろうけれど、食べ慣れていないようなクセもなく、むしろ美味い
ピタパンの半分に詰め込んでも美味しくいただけますね
なるほど、これがケバブですか
これはピタパンだけでなくごはんにも合いそうだな
そうとわかったら、今度はテイクアウトでもいいから丼をいただいてみたくなったな
