カモメが飛んできたので今日も今日とて脱兎の如く定時で退社を決めた。日本は安全だし医者は安くて割と的確だし、救急車もすぐ来るし。特に東京では様々な国のご飯が食べれるのだ…それはわかる。それは大変幸せな事だと言うのはわかる。しかしもう東京でベコは飼えない。独特な閉鎖的な感覚を辛いと思うともうすぐに南国の飯屋に駆け込むようになった。
今夜はハワイだ。みんなが騒ぐキラキラなワイキキとかじゃなくておじさんが若い頃はもう少しノースショア手前とかラニカイあたりでもロコで盛り上がり日系人として入って楽しく過ごせたものだ。…という気持ちを思い浮かべることができるのがこの店だだいぶ前置きが長くなってすまない…
グァバやグレービーという単語すら知らないままに、ハワイのローカルフードすらも勉強せずに最初にホノルル国際空港に降り立ち、街中で勇気を出して入ったハンバーガー屋さんを思い出してしばしの幸せを味わうことができるのがここだ…
店内ではサイネージみたいにパネルで注文して番号札で取りに行くスタイル。店内の装飾も音楽もハワイ。油の匂い、炭酸ジュースのかおり、これも全部ハワイ。こういう統一された空間に入ると本当にホッとして辛いことをしばし忘れることができる。
ポテトにオニオンフライ、ぶっちゃけバーガーはなんでもいい。少しあげた油の香りの中でハワイアンミュージックを聴きながらデカめのグァバジュースで決めれたら私は幸せなのだ…
どんどん急行が極まりない日本、働けど働けど我が暮らし楽になんてなるわけないのでハワイにいつまた行って夕日を観れるかわからんから、こちらのお店で海外旅行欲望をうすめて伸ばしてひとおもいに飲み込みたいと思う。
